Frith Luton

May 5th, 2011

Frith Luton is a Jungian Psychoanalyst in private practice in Melbourne. She is also a professional book editor and astrologer, and now also a published author.

“My fascination with the stars began when I watched the night sky as a child in Queensland. Over the years, on clear dark nights, I remember seeing eclipses of the moon, a long-tailed comet and various planets and fast-moving satellites. I learned some astrology from books in my late teens, then went to Melbourne University to study English and History.

After working as a secondary teacher for over a decade from the mid-1970s, I followed my love of literature and the arts and returned to university in the first intake for the Graduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing at RMIT. In 1988, I began my ongoing work in the publishing industry as a professional book editor.

Years later, a significant dream led me to speak with Brian Clark at Astro*Synthesis and so I began my formal studies in astrology in Melbourne in 1993. I was the first student to graduate in the four-year professional training program at Astro*Synthesis in 1997.

Since childhood I have been passionate about the symbolic life and the meanings offered through story, myth, poetry and dreams. My interest in Jungian Psychology was sparked in the 1980s and deepened through my astrology studies. In 2000 I went to Zurich and soon after began my formal intensive training there as an analyst – melding my work as teacher, wordsmith, astrologer and psychotherapist.

My work with clients now is guided by the profound insights of C G Jung. In practice this means trusting the unconscious to lead the analysis by considering dreams, synchronicities and creative self-expression and other symbolic and somatic material. Jungian analysis, over time, offers a deep process of healing and individuation which can transform suffering, reveal meaning and promote psychic wholeness.”

Frith has lectured at ISAP in Zurich, the C G Jung Society of Sydney, the    C G Jung Society of South Australia and the Research- and Training Centre for Depth Psychology in Switzerland.
